Two names worth knowing out here. The Nude Bowl in Desert Hot Springs — a kidney pool left behind by an abandoned nudist resort, skated since the late 1970s, buried by authorities and dug back out by skaters more than once. And Eddie "El Gato" Elguera, two-time world champion, inventor of the Elguerial and the frontside rock-n-roll, a 2016 Skateboarding Hall of Fame inductee who lives right here in Palm Desert. The desert has been load-bearing for skateboarding a lot longer than most people think.
