Rule 4.1b(1) caps you at fourteen clubs. Carry more and it's two strokes per hole where it happened, up to a four-stroke maximum in stroke play. The rule turns bag-building into a real decision: a fourth wedge means one fewer long iron. Gaps over about twenty yards are where scores leak — that's the distance you'll be stuck between clubs, decelerating on one or muscling the other.
Carries shown are typical male-amateur averages — a starting frame, not your numbers. Swing speed, strike quality, altitude and heat all move them, and desert air in July is not desert air in January. The only real answer is a session on a range or a launch monitor hitting ten of each. Learn your carries; then the club calls make themselves.
