Leisure Golf & Skate — V2 proof sheet → Site v1 (the pick) Round one reel The lab Front Nine For Jose & Cece
Leisure Golf & Skate
Round two · nine tape decks · product first, then the OG three ways

You said the product
goes at the top.

So it does — in every one. Each version opens on the goods: the caps, the tote, the tee, the carry set. The tape deck is still the engine, it just isn't standing in front of the register anymore. And the real OG — TAPE 004, the skate-video one Jose picked — is back three ways: 07 dubbed, 08 through the VX, 09 as premiere night. Blue screens, chroma, static. Zero furniture.

These are built with your stuff — the flat lay, the tote in the ice plant, the caps on the white table, the cardigan, the lemon-tree tee, the ollie over the shop box, the enjoi putting-green ad, the clips you sent, and both parts. Nothing here is stock. Pick a direction and I'll build it out properly.

What's real

Every photo and every clip is yours. Colors are pulled straight out of your banner file — forest #19290d, gold #eba800, stone #c2bcb7 — and the wordmark is your actual artwork, not a lookalike font.

What's placeholder

Prices, sizes and product blurbs are invented so the layouts feel alive. None of it is real yet. Send me the actual list and I'll swap it in the same day.

One flag

Your parts are in — Super Chavela (Thrasher, 2016) and Bag of Suck (enjoi, 2006), pulled with your written OK. Worth knowing: the footage itself is still Thrasher's and enjoi's copyright. Self-hosting is the small risk; embedding their official uploads is the zero-risk version and looks identical. Your call — just say which.

01

Countertop

The shop in daylight. Goods first, big and bright — and the deck is a real component that docks at the bottom of the screen and keeps playing while people shop.
Open full ↗
Feels like

Walking into the shop at 11am. Clean, warm, everything easy to grab.

The deck

Bottom dock — brushed aluminium, VU meters, transport. Load a tape and it plays while you keep browsing.

Best if

Selling is the number one job and the footage is the reason people stay.

02

Tracking

The whole screen is the tape. Every product is a channel — full bleed, broadcast lower-third, price and Add to Bag right there. Surf it with the arrow keys.
Open full ↗
Feels like

A tape left running on the shop TV. Static between channels, timecode in the corner, REC light on.

The deck

Ten channels: four products, three of your clips, the shop, the archive, the lookbook. Guide strip along the bottom.

Best if

You want the site to feel like nothing else in golf. Highest ceiling, needs the most footage to stay fed.

03

J-Card

The store as a cassette insert. Side A is the goods as a track listing — tap a track, it opens with the photo, sizes and Add to Bag. Side B is your story. Two colors, printed.
Open full ↗
Feels like

A zine you'd actually keep. Registration marks, dotted rules, halftone paper.

The deck

A working cassette — the reels really spool, supply empties and take-up fills as the clip runs, and the footage plays in the window.

Best if

You want the most Leisure-looking one. Prints straight to a real insert, a sticker, a shop poster.

04

Remaster

The one you asked for — the original HQ-4000 deck from round one, grown into a full hi-fi stack: Trinitron monitor, cassette deck, amplifier. Cassettes still fly into the slot; now there's actual footage on the tube and the price list is racked right beside the machine.

Feels like

The hi-fi wall at a stereo shop in 1987 — wired to a register.

The deck

Color bars until you load a tape. The clock blinks 12:00 like every deck in every living room ever. The volume knob really turns the sound up. Eject works.

Best if

The machine should be the site's icon — the thing people screenshot and send to a friend.

05

Be Kind

The shop as a video rental store. Every product is a VHS box on the shelf — pull one down, read the back, keep it forever (that's the price sticker). Footage lives on the Staff Picks shelf, the enjoi ads hang on the back wall, and the membership card is Jose's bio.
Open full ↗
Feels like

Friday night at the rental store — neon sign, letterboard, checkered floor.

The deck

No deck — boxes. Packaging is the star: if these VHS sleeves existed at the register, people would buy the box alone. Member File № 001 carries the verified bio.

Best if

You want merch, packaging and website sharing one design language you could actually print.

06

Mixtape

A hand-dubbed tape you scroll through. A Walkman rides shotgun — reels turning with the page, counter running on your scroll, buttons that actually skip tracks. Side A is the goods; the tape auto-reverses and Side B is the footage and the story.
Open full ↗
Feels like

A tape a friend labeled by hand — except the tracks have prices.

The deck

The Walkman is the nav. On phones it docks at the bottom like a real one on a belt clip. Liner notes carry the verified San Jose → Indio story.

Best if

Mobile is king. It's built like a feed: product first, story on the B-side, zero learning curve.

The Deck, Mk II

You said 04 still wasn't it — fair. This IS the original: same dark stage, same HQ-4000, same blinking 12:00, same ◄ INSERT TAPE, same story panel that rewrites itself per tape. The only change: the display is now a real screen, so when a cassette flies in, actual footage plays inside the machine.

Feels like

The first-round deck, one-to-one. If you loved that page, this is that page — grown up.

The deck

Tapes with the amber ● have real footage (both parts + the shop reel). The others blink AWAITING FOOTAGE at you-know-who.

Best if

04 overshot and the answer was always "just the machine."

Live preview · click a cassette⏏ eject brings the blinking 12:00 back
08

The Console

The same machine moved into a walnut cabinet — big CRT up top, tape slot and cream keys below, twin VU needles, brass trim, little legs. Palm Springs living room, 1978. The volume knob is real: drag it up and the part gets loud.
Open full ↗
Feels like

Watching skate videos on your grandparents' TV — which is exactly the shop's energy.

The deck

Biggest screen of the three. VU needles wiggle while it plays; the cabinet sits on real angled legs.

Best if

The footage should be huge and the machine should feel like furniture.

09

Premiere Night

A skate DVD main menu left looping at the homie's house. Street clip running behind the menu, ► selector, SCENE SELECT for the parts, BONUS FEATURES for the goods. Arrow keys and Enter work like a remote.
Open full ↗
Feels like

Everyone on the couch, someone yelling to run it back.

The deck

PLAY ALL queues all four parts back to back. Scene Select plays any one. The menu genuinely never stops looping.

Best if

You want ceremony — the site as the premiere, the goods as bonus features.

Four things and I can finish this

  1. Pick a lane — 01 through 09.

You can mix. "04's machine with 06's mixtape on mobile" is a completely fine answer. Tell me what you'd change and I'll build the real one from there.

  2. The actual product list.

Names, prices, sizes, what's in stock vs coming, and which brands you carry. Right now every price on here is made up by me.

  3. Host the parts, or embed them?

Super Chavela and Bag of Suck are both wired in and playing. Self-hosted looks best but the copyright is Thrasher's and enjoi's, not yours — embedding their official uploads is the safe version and reads the same. Pick one and I'll set it. Still want Bonus Round and the Hypegolf × Toyota film when you can find them.

  4. Your voice memo.

Side B is still me writing as you. Two minutes of you talking beats anything I can write. Nothing about you goes live until you've read it.

That enjoi ad — you crouched on a green in a full skate fit, caddie blurred behind you, some nonsense poll running across the top — was a joke about how far apart skating and golf were. You went and made it a storefront. That's the whole site, and almost nobody in golf has a story like it. — Michael
